Product Description

SolarWave™ expansion tanks are designed to control the expansion and contraction of solar thermal transfer fluids in solar heating systems. The SolarWave™ series is intended for use on the solar liquid loop of indirect thermal transfer systems. SolarWave™ tanks are quality tested at several stages on the production line to ensure the structural integrity of every tank and do not require any maintenance.

Pressure Tanks are recommended to be installed in-line with pumps as they:

  • Are an energy saving device
  • Eliminates the pump starting each time a tap is turned on
  • Extends the life of your pump

Draw Off - 3 litres

This means that when a tap is turned, the water in the pressure cell is used first prior to the pump being turned on. This model will use 3 litres of water stored in the pressure cell prior to the turning on of the pump. Once this water is used, the pump will start. When the tap is turned off, the pump will continue to run to fill the pressure cell tank before the pump turns off.

It is recommended to use a pressure tank especially when a pump is connected to a toilet cistern. After a toilet is flushed it fills slowly and can cause a pump to cycle (switch on and off) until the cistern is full. Installation of a pressure tank will assist in eliminating this cycling.

Pre-Charge

For PRESSURE SWITCH CONTROLLED PUMPS with traditional pressure differential of up to 140kPa (20psi), pre-charge to be 20kPa (3psi) below cut in pressure. For PUMPS CONTROLLED BY EITHER PRESSURE SWITCHES with differential over 140kPa (20psi), ELECTRONIC CONTROLLERS or VFD (variable speed drive) the prechange pressure should be set at 65% of the maximum system pressure. ONCE the pre-charge is set, no regular air charge checks are required.
