Grey Water Systems

Universal GreyFlow - Grey Water Diversion Systems For Your HomeAn average household produces well over 100,000 litres of grey water each and every year. Ordinarily, this water is sent down the drain; however, if this grey water is diverted correctly, it can be re-used for irrigation, allowing you to keep your gardens green and healthy.

Depending upon which system meets your requirements you can re-use an average of 100 litres of grey water per person, per day... water that would normally go to waste.

When you re-use grey water...

  • You can have a green, healthy garden despite water regulations or restrictions.
  • Domestic water consumption can be reduced by over 30%.
  • Your household water bill can be dramatically reduced.
  • There is less strain on a city's water storage.
  • You are helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (this is a proven fact).

Universal GreyFlow systems offer a wide range of grey water diversion solutions to suit almost every application and requirement.

All GreyFlow systems are watermarked and approved by regulatory bodies in Western Australia and all other Australian states.

What You Should Know About Grey Water

Following are some points that you should be aware of in relation to Grey Water:

  • Save Water by Re-using Grey Water on Your GardenGrey water is not permitted to run off your property.
  • Sub-surface irrigation systems work best to distribute grey water evenly around your garden. Do not connect your grey water diversion system to your existing irrigation system.
  • The Australian Standard requires that a sign to be placed on the outlet of the grey water diversion device marked "WARNING DO NOT DRINK" and that all irrigation pipes be coloured purple.
  • Ensure your grey water is installed by a professional plumber.
  • Monitor your soil and plant life and if it requires a rest from grey water, turn it off.
  • Grey water is not recommended for vegetable patches and especially root vegetables.
  • Ensure your irrigation system is dispersing the water sub-surface - either on top of soil and under mulch, or trenched into soil.
  • Think about the products you are using inside the house and try to use environmentally friendly shampoos, washing liquid etc. Choose products with low phosphorous and low salt content.
  • It is against EPA and health regulations to store untreated grey water for more than 24 hours.
  • Make sure that you are aware of your local government and state regulations - you may be eligible for a rebate and not even know!
